Nothing sudden. When a payment is late your system keeps working normally for seven more days while we remind you. After that it becomes read-only: you can still log in, look at every record and export all your data — you just cannot record new sales until you renew. Nothing is deleted, and access comes back within a minute of payment. We will never lock you out of your own tax records.

Yes, at any time, and it is your data. Each business gets its own separate database, so we can hand you a complete copy of it rather than an approximation. Ask support and you get the file.

Be honest with yourself about this one before you buy: ProtechBooks runs in a browser, so the till needs a connection. Most shops run it on a phone hotspot as a backup, which costs very little and works. If your location genuinely has no reliable connection, tell us during setup — an on-premise install may suit you better, and we would rather say so than sell you something that frustrates you.

No. It runs on any computer, tablet or phone with a browser. A thermal receipt printer and a barcode scanner make life easier and we can supply them, but you can start with what you already have.

The sale still completes — your till never stops because a tax API is having a bad day. The invoice queues and retries automatically, and you see exactly which documents are pending in the eTIMS screen. The usual cause is a product without a KRA classification code, which the system flags and lets you fix in bulk.

Your workspace is created in under a minute. Getting genuinely useful takes about a day: loading your products, entering opening stock, connecting your M-Pesa till. Each business has its own separate database with its own credentials — your records are not mixed with anyone else's. Our staff access it only when you ask us to help, and that access is logged. We will confirm the hosting location in writing before you sign, and you will get a data processing agreement as part of the terms.

Any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and you only pay the difference for the days left in the month. Downgrades take effect at the end of the period you have already paid for — we do not take away something you have paid for.
